Asthma Friendly Town
BreathChamps offers a one-hour learning programme for individuals or organisations to become ‘child asthma friendly’.
Funded by Trafford Housing Trust and Our Sale West, BreathChamps is offering a unique 1-hour asthma awareness education programme. It is targeted at the public and organisations that have significant contact with children and young people, such as sports clubs, parent toddlers groups, Brownies and Scouts and housing associations. This is offered free of charge for anyone living in the postcode M33 Sale. Our mission is to increasing the ‘herd knowledge’ of the whole town of Sale, where BreathChamps is based, so that the whole town becomes ‘child-asthma friendly’ and knows how to support children and young people with asthma, no matter where they are in Sale.
If you are based outside M33 then we charge just £5 per person. We can also arrange in house training for organisations.
An annually updated accreditation scheme is available for organisations whose front line staff have all completed the learning programme.
The learning programme incorporates a fun, story-telling approach that shares BreathChamps ‘5 things to know’:
What the main inhalers that children use do
What a personal asthma action plan is
The importance of an annual review and ‘flu vaccination
How to recognise and manage an acute asthma attack.
Below is an example of our fun learning style.
